What qualifications are needed to become a PinkHippy.org volunteer?
To become a PinkHippy.org volunteer you need to be dependable
and reliable, and most importantly have a positive attitude and
a willingness to help.
Are special skills necessary?
Special skills are not necessary to volunteer your time. Of course, if you have a particular area of expertise that fits with one of our volunteer opportunities then those talents would be most welcome.
What is the time commitment involved for volunteering?
You determine your own time availability based upon your life situation and commitments. Whether you choose to volunteer just once or to make a commitment over many months, you and your time are appreciated. Thank you!
Bosom Buddy Network
What
qualifications are needed to become a Bosom Buddy Network volunteer?
To become a PinkHippy.org Bosom Buddy Network volunteer you must be a
breast cancer survivor and be at least 18 years of age. You
should possess a positive attitude and good listening skills. All volunteers will be
pre-screened by a PinkHippy.org Board Member and the
Volunteer Co-Ordinator and will be required
to attend a Bosom Buddy Volunteer training meeting prior to being accepted into the
Bosom Buddy Network.
Who
will I be matched with? Bosom Buddy volunteers are matched with
women or men whose breast cancer diagnosis most closely matches their
own. Age, gender and geographic location
are considered as well. This careful matching process is intended to
build trust and understanding, and to help the volunteer and their match
relate on a common level.
How will I be contacted? The
Co-ordinator for the Bosom Buddy Network will initiate
contact with the volunteer when a request is made. patients, both
women and men with breast cancer, that are looking to connect with a Bosom Buddy Volunteer may
contact PinkHippy.org to request the connection.

Reiki Network
What qualifications are needed to become a Reiki Network volunteer? To become a PinkHippy.org Reiki Network volunteer you must be a
certified Reiki practitioner (level 2 or higher) with a minimum of 2 years
of experience. You
must also be at least 18 years of age. All volunteers will be
screened by a PinkHippy.org Board Member and the Volunteer
Co-ordinator, and will be required
to attend a Reiki Volunteer Training meeting prior to being accepted into the Reiki Network.
Where are Reiki sessions held?
Some sessions may be conducted in the hospital during chemotherapy or other treatment (with prior hospital/doctor approval). Some sessions may be conducted during scheduled reiki clinics,
in private practices, or at one of our massage therapy locations. The coordinator for the Reiki Volunteer Network will contact the practitioner when a request is made for a session or when a clinic is scheduled.
Who would be receiving reiki services? Those who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer, patients currently undergoing treatment, or those that have recently completed treatment are eligible for Reiki sessions free of charge.
Are practitioners paid for their services? No, as a volunteer you agree to donate your time and skills.
